No mud. No lotus.

“Like the lotus flower, business blooms in the mud, and in the dark of night. The lotus is an amazing creation of God, because for all of its beauty, it is the sum total of work performed in a mess. It is also a creation that has the ability to create seeds in its habitat for a very long time without help from human hands. The lotus has the ability to survive beyond the mercurial nature of weather (storms, frost). The lotus is one strong, powerful, and resilient flower that blossoms in a substance (mud) that none of us would want to touch.”
― Robin Caldwell, When Women Become Business Owners

The lotus is my favorite flower, and what I love about the lotus is that it actually thrives in mud and muck, yet it develops into a beautiful flower. It is symbolic of life: my life, your life. Without mud, there would be no lotus. Without difficulty in life, we would never evolve.

In essence, no mud. No lotus.

As a business owner, I always show the positive side of what I do, and I’ll continue to do so. However, make no mistake about it; building a business is a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Building a business is full of highs and lows, laughter and tears. People raise you up. People let you down. Miraculously, though, in the mud and muck of all of it, something beautiful emerges.

As I stumble through some necessary business changes, I hope you’ll be patient with me. It’s going to be a little messy as I rework the website, add a new website, and make a brand new location into the next phase of Mid-Ohio Valley Wedding Officiants and Mid-Ohio Valley Celebrant Services.

I also want to let everyone know a little more about who I am. I think you deserve that. I want my blog to be a little more than a page of announcements. I want it to be a celebration of love and life and reveal who I am and celebrate the families I serve. There’s too much mud in the news today. I want my blog to be a celebration of all that is right.

Until next time…

Love each other. It is the only way.
