Beginning August 1, Mid-Ohio Valley Wedding Officiants will be located at 531 Market Street, just a few doors down from my current 521 Market Street location. The building sits on the corners of Sixth Street and Market Street (beside the railroad trestle).
As I write the last rent check to the Dils Center, it gives me pause to reflect on everything that has happened since I first reached out to Todd Stubbe about renting office space for a photography studio. So much has happened since then.
It was October 30, 2017. Mr. Stubbe was in the process of buying the building when my husband’s band JINX’D practiced on the first floor to test the acoustics. That practice session was the catalyst that led me to put my home-based photography business on the second floor and to create a storefront location. In fact, I had the honor of being the first business tenant to sign with Todd.
Much has changed since then. Mr. Stubbe passed away suddenly just months after buying the building. This was a devastating moment for all of us who knew him. His wife Morgan managed the Dils Center until the current owners, Vinny Kunze and Angela Harris, took over a year ago. I am grateful for the support I have received from everyone who has managed the Dils Center. IT has meant the world to me.
It hasn’t been easy. I’ve experienced the highs and lows of business ownership. There have been unbelievable highs and earth-shattering lows. People I thought would be supportive were not, even though I supported their ventures. On the other hand, there were unexpected allies that helped lift me up when I needed it. Every experience helped me to create a business I love today.
Deb Lorentz Photography, LLC became Mid-Ohio Valley Wedding Officiants, LLC in both Ohio and West Virginia. I’ve also added Mid-Ohio Valley Wedding Chapel as a trade name under my business umbrella. I used to be a full-time photographer. Now, I’m a full-time wedding officiant. I made photography part of my wedding services and have relegated the business of photography to more of a freelance venture.
However, it’s time to move on, but I’m not going far. It’s time to scale back on space temporarily so that I can reach a new, bigger goal by this time next year. I am transitioning from a multi-room suite to a small office. I’ll still have chapel space at my new location, but it will be part of select wedding packages.
I will continue to officiate weddings on location in West Virginia and Ohio. I will also be adding new services to Mid-Ohio Valley Wedding Officiants. I’ll announce these services over the summer. I’m super excited to take my business to another level.
Thank you to everyone who has been supportive the past few years. As I wind everything down at 521 Market Street, I want all my supporters to know that I appreciate you. It’s been a pleasure to take your photographs. It has been an honor to marry couples from the Mid-Ohio Valley and from states as far away as Michigan and New York. One couple even traveled from China to get married in my chapel.
The good news is there’s still time to get married at the 521 chapel. I’m accepting full weddings through July 21. I’ll still officiate Sign-and-Go ceremonies, elopements, and Short, Sweet, and Hitched services until the last week chair has been removed from my chapel.
I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my business life. It has brought unexpected blessings. While many of my friends are counting the days down to retirement, I’m looking forward to transforming love into lifelong commitment.
